Sustainability

All roses sold from Silkies Rose Farm, Clonbinane are grown on virus tested root stock, making them very drought tolerant, thus they will last for years in our Australian environment. Most of our roses are grown in the famous Coonawarra Grape growing area of South Australia and in winter, they are dug in the field, transported to Clonbinane where we heel them in during the bare-rooted season.

From late June through to September, the roses are potted into recycled plastic pots so they're ready for the rest of the year to be posted for planting in gardens everywhere. (Except TAS & WA)

Silkies Rose Farm has obtained approval as a Sustainable Garden Centre, which means that all staff have had the appropriate training to advise you on the best methods available to save water, avoid environmentally damaging pesticides and weedicides, how to compost your waste and provide you with a plethora of information to enable you to be more environmentally aware in your space.

All the sustainable methods are practiced at the Rose Farm and the products used to maintain and support sustainable gardening are available for purchase at the Rose Farm.

For more information we highly recommend you subscribe to the following organisations with whom we have had connection during our journey and adventure in growing beautiful roses ... organically, naturally!
